Building For The Future

A few words from the owner, Rick Doty.

My Dad told me when I was young, “Love what you do and you will never work a day in your life.”

I graduated from Appalachian State University in 1988 with a concentration in drafting and architecture. While home one summer, I began working in construction and knew then that was my calling. In 1993, Steve Ginader and I formed Ginader and Doty Construction Inc. Dozens of projects and several years later I still wake up and look forward to building homes. I am striving to be a more eco-friendly builder. With the changing economy and my partner approaching retirement, the start of 2010 was the right time to form Doty Home Builders, LLC.

It is my goal with this new company to not only continue building great custom homes, but to create an enjoyable process for the client.  It takes a complete team to build a quality home. Designers, suppliers, employees, subcontractors and inspectors all play a unique role in the construction process.  As a builder, it is my job to maintain strong relationships and insure communication with all involved.

It is hard to live in an area as beautiful as the High Country and not be aware of the environment.  I thank my wife and sister for my enthusiasm toward greener building practices and helping others to become more sustainable. I have been blessed with two great kids Luke, and Ava and an amazing wife, Crystal, who has been keeping this family healthy and toxin free for many years. My sister, Lisa Doty, is the recycling coordinator for Watauga County and has introduced me to a group of people leading the way in the green building industry.

There are many facets to sustainable building such as site development, innovative design, resource management, energy and water efficiency and indoor air quality.  Whether you are looking for traditional construction, Energy Star certification or anything in between, DOTY HOME BUILDERS is capable of meeting your needs.
